//Edit; that last is probably a little self-serving; here's a guy I got yesterday in Central Phoenix. I asked him if I could, and he went, "hai!"

Okay the way I see it, is we have choices to be made. Limiting to at least 2 votes, we get:

5 votes:
Something recursive (add one add'l vote b/c comment in itself was a vote?)
Old things among new things
4 votes:
Shoes
Something obsolete
3 votes:
Fun places to scratch
Sensor bars
People of Late Night Waffle House
Fish out of water
2 votes:
Things you'd expect to find in Florida
Deity
Light
Leafy things
Ice
Feet
Shadows
Hot dog in a hallway
Miniature worlds
Naked body silhouette
Not cats
Paranoia
My long lost shaker of salt
Mr. Wizard

And in the funny category,
3 votes:
People of Walmart, not in Walmart

Add one to:

Florida
Scratch
Hot dog
Paranoia
Mr. Wizard

That gives us 23 items to chose from, and just how are we going to go about picking which we do? Creativialtivitally, I can think of fun shots with most of them. I'm a fan of "Things you'd expect to find in Florida" and "Fun Places to Scratch" especially, but "Walmart, not in Walmart" hits me for the win.

The old thing with new things is potentially redundant with the hoppered theme but that really shouldn't be much of an issue since it'll be spread out pretty far. Other than that, I'd suggest the naked silhouette be struck down because I don't see that it'd be presentable without really being NSFW. No way to tell if someone's naked unless you've got some detailed shadows there.

Here's my thoughts:

Old/New isn't the only suggestion that we have done recently/have in the hopper. First discarding those, then going for a combination of amusing and easier, my suggestions are:

Florida
Ice
Obsolete
Places you scratch
Recursive
Salt Shakers
Shoes
Trashy people

3 photos of 3 or more items on the list

Here's my thinking based on above. Shamelessly quoted, chopped, and screwed without adding the box/tags.

6 votes:
Something recursive (add one add'l vote b/c comment in itself was a vote?) (good)

5 votes:
Old things among new things (too close to something old, something new / one of these doesn't belong)
Something obsolete (good)

4 votes:
Shoes (good)
Fun places to scratch (good, potential NSFW concerns)
Hot dog in a hallway (too narrow in scope)

3 votes:
Sensor bars (Too Narrow)
People of Late Night Waffle House (good, recommend combining with people of walmart)
Fish out of water (good, potentially wide and/or abstract)
Things you'd expect to find in Florida (good)
Paranoia (good)
Mr. Wizard (too narrow)
Not cats (too wide)
My long lost shaker of salt (potentially too narrow, but the reference widens it out quite a bit. I like it for the last option)

2 votes:
Deity (Can you photograph that?)
Light (good)
Leafy things (good)
Ice (good)
Feet (close to shoes above, slightly grosser)
Shadows (good)
Miniature worlds (too close to Tiny Tracts of Land)
Naked body silhouette (Too much NSFW hazard)

4 funny votes:
People of Walmart, not in Walmart (good)

So, my recommended final list:

1) Something recursive
2) Something Obsolete
3) Shoes
4) Fun Places to Scratch
5) People of Walmart/Late Night Waffle House, outside of Walmart or Waffle House)
6) Fish out of Water
7) Things You'd Expect to Find in Floriduh
Cool Paranoia
9) My Long Lost Shaker of Salt
10) Light and Shadows

If need be / at modmins' concern for NSFW concerns, Leafy Things can be swapped in for Fun Places to Scratch.

+1 to Orionid's list, especially the unintentional sunglassed emoticon for "Paranoia". I think Fun Places to Scratch would be awesome.

In the interests of fairness (and myself Twisted Evil ), scratch anything specifically American (no, not the participants):

- People of Walmart/Late Night Waffle House, outside of Walmart or Waffle House
- Florida/ Things You'd Expect to Find in Floriduh

For clarity : Euro, Afro and Australasian Farktographers have too little frame of reference (and a reasonable local facsimile would probably go into the voters' WTF? file.) and NOT because the US has exclusive licence to thickos and rednecks. Razz

Well no offense to others in foreign lands but 1) you don't have to find all the items on the list, and 2) there are plenty of places in the world with things you'd expect to find in Florida - flamingos, palm trees, cruise ships, bikini girls, Cubans, old Jewish dudes, Mickey Mouse, hurricanes...

People of Walmart, maybe a little confusing but things in Florida is pretty easy for anyone

Netherlands? C'mon, you're right by Belgium. Belgians sell waffles, therefore, they must have wafflehouses (Waffel Haus?).
And the audience for the Manchester vs Manchester game? Definitely some Walmartians (Tesconians?) there.

In defense of "Things You'ld Expect to Find in Florida," or Floridiana perhaps, all Farkers, and consequently Farktographers, should know these sort of things from all the Florida tagged threads. E.g. teachers sleeping with students, atheistic Christian ministers, immigrants, old people, Early Bird Specials at restaurants, swampy things,...

BTW, WTF does "thickos" mean? That's a colloquialism that I'm not familiar with. (Actually, I already looked it up.)

Edit: The guy pictured at the top of this page looks to me like I might find him in Florida between the grey hair, wrinkles, cuffed hems, and sweat.

So... how many items are to be on the list?

Too many and it becomes tedious. Too few and you limit participation.

I kind of like 10-12 with a goal of *trying* to get at least 8 into the 3 entries - it should be the effort that counts... I'm not likely to do very well with this, but I'll give it the college try. I can say that each image will be well-crafted and include elements from the list.

As for the "People of WalMart" being less than available to non-US Farktographers... you've got your Travellers, Tinkers, your loud obnoxious boobs, and generally people who refuse to conform to societal norms (but not in a good or fun way - blue-haired punk rockers are not the kind of people I'm thinking of here...) you guys have access to Youtube... search for Randy Quaid, Larry the Cable Guy or Roseanne Barr.

Ten items. Three Photos. As many of the items from the list in the photos as you want. Let the voters sort out grades for effort?

Living in the UK, I vote that it's fine for "things you'd expect to find in florida" and "people of wal-mart/waffle house outside of the wal-mart/waffle house." Picking something outlandishly stupid always works for a florida photo, and the people you'd expect to see in a wal-mart aren't just confined to the States Wink
